Why has one of my outlets stopped working?
What’s likely going on
A tripped breaker or a tripped GFCI outlet (the ones with the small reset button, common in kitchens and bathrooms) is the most common and simple cause. A GFCI outlet elsewhere in the same circuit can also cut power to outlets that look completely unrelated at first glance.
Is this a DIY job or worth calling someone?
Checking your breaker panel and any nearby GFCI outlets for a reset button is safe and often solves it in under a minute. If neither helps, or the outlet feels warm or looks discolored, that's worth a real look rather than repeated troubleshooting.
Not sure, or ready to have someone take care of it?
