Worth acting on soon

My handrail (or banister) feels loose or wobbly on the stairs — how urgent is that?

What’s likely going on

A handrail or banister loosens when the anchors holding it to the wall or posts work themselves free over time — and a railing you can't fully trust is more dangerous than no railing at all, because you reach for it assuming it'll hold, especially on stairs.

What we’d suggest

This one is worth treating as more than a minor annoyance, especially on stairs. If you can see which screws have backed out, tightening them yourself is reasonable — but if the wall anchor itself has failed, it needs a real, secure fix, not just tightening a screw that will work loose again.

Not sure, or ready to have someone take care of it?
